HOW TO ENROL ON OUR 10-WEEK DOMESTIC PLUMBING COURSE

HOW THE 10-WEEK COURSES ARE RUN
Here at VIY (UK Plumbing Training) we run a 10-week course to gain the following certificates. The City and Guilds 6129 and 6089 NVQ Level 2 certificates are the only recognised qualifications required to enter the plumbing industry.
The First Four Weeks Of The Course
The first part of the course consists of approx 4 weeks in the lecture rooms. During the first 4 weeks you will undertake 12 exams. They are all multiple choice questions. Re-sits can be taken as many times as needed throughout the course. There is no charge for re-sits. There is one final exam called GOLA (Global on-Line Assessments) for this you need to sit at a computer. Once again this is multiple choice. Knowledge of computers is not required as we have trained staff to assist you, if required.
The Next Six Weeks
You now go to the workshops for the remaining 6 weeks where you will now gain all the practical skills required to become a plumber. Once again, there will be assessments throughout the training. There is extra training and assistance available to any student who may need help.
We have a 98% student pass rate by the end of the 10 weeks. We also have facilities for the remaining 2% to gain their qualifications without incurring any extra charges.
Bpec (British Plumbing Employers Council) NVQ Level 3 Qualifications
Bpec certificates are offered on our courses to keep students up to date with the changes that have occurred in the plumbing industry within the past few years.
During your first 10 weeks at our training centre you will have been taught about Unvented Hot Water Systems, Water Regulations and Energy Efficiency. These Bpec certificates are completely separate from your City and Guilds qualifications. All Bpec certificates are at NVQ level 3 and consequently as a training centre, we are not allowed to issue level 3 certificates on a level 2 course. Therefore, your certificates will be issued to you approx 3 months after the end of your course. Many Bpec qualifications carry “Approved Plumber” status, this will be available once you have received your certificate and (as in the case of Bpec water regulations) have gained your NVQ 2 or 3 certificate.
NVQ on-site assessment
When you have completed the 10-week course you can now start working as a plumber. Once we have checked some on-site work that you are in the process of doing, we can then apply for your NVQ 2 certificate. All City and Guilds courses work this way. By the way, the on-site work can be carried out at a customer's home, a friend’s home or even your own home. It is entirely up to you. You choose where and when these visits take place. If you have previous experience in the plumbing industry, then the on-site visits can take place immediately at the end of the course. If, like most of our students, you come without any plumbing knowledge, then the on-site visits can take place as soon as you feel ready. The average timescale is around 6 months after finishing your course. But you do have up to 2 years to complete if you wish. It is entirely up to you. This is the end of OPTION 1.
All courses qualify for the following:-
FREE - Toolbox, FREE - Toolkit, FREE - Overalls
FREE - Self Employment Handouts-Pricing customers jobs etc.
FREE - Helpline when working as a plumber (mobile / telephone / email)
